How to Start a Computer Repair Business

How to Start a Computer Repair BusinessThere are very few people that don't have computers in this day and agewhich means that having certain technical skills, such as the ability to repair or build computers, can be incredibly handy. If you happen to possess such a rare set of skills, then you may be thinking about starting a computer repair business. However, it's important to understand that it takes a lot of work to build a computer repair business from the ground up, which is why you may want to consider investing in a franchise instead.

Computer Repair Startups vs. Computer Repair Franchises

If your want to own and operate a computer repair business, then you've got two optionsyou can start your own computer repair shop and build it from the ground up, or your become a franchise and become part of a major brand.

Big brands in the computer repair industry are selling the rights to operate under their name to other entrepreneurs. These computer repair franchise opportunities are typically a safer investment from a business point of view. This is because you'll be working with an already established brandand technically, you won't even have to have any repair skills yourself. You can focus solely on the management side. Of course, you'll have to undergo training to get a basic understanding of the computer repair services you'll be offering, but most companies will offer this to new owners.

However, if you're considering building your own computer repair business, then you'll most likely have to take a much different route to doing so.

Building Your Own Computer Repair Business

The following are some of the tips you'll want to keep in mind when planning your own computer repair business.

Identify your strengths and weaknesses - You may have excellent technical skills, but you may lack in business acumen. Or, perhaps you have both, but you lack social skills. All three of these are extremely important when it comes to running your own business. Knowing where your strengths lie ahead of time will allow you to focus on those while knowing what your weaknesses are will give you a chance to figure out how to overcome them.
Determine who your customer base is - Computer repair is a very broad service. Having a niche makes it easier to corner that part of the market. For example, you could focus on repairing computer systems for local businesses. Or you could focus on repairing Apple computers. By emphasizing a specialty service, it will make marketing and sales a lot easier.
Set your rates properly - If your rates are too high, you'll scare away potential customers. But if they're too low, you may not make enough money. Don't set them low in order to hook new customers either. Once you try to raise those rates, you'll risk losing those customers as well as risk hurting your reputation. Do your research to determine the proper value of your services.
Market your business - Running a few ads in the local paper isn't going to cut it. As a startup, you need to invest in marketing to help increase awareness of your business. Focus on digital marketing by setting up a website, creating a social media presence, creating valuable content enriched by SEO keywords and engaging with your customers online. Keep in mind that marketing is something that has to be done on a daily basis for it to be effective.
Gather inventory - As a computer repair service, you may want to sell used computers or parts. You'll also want plenty of replacement components that can be used for computer repairs. If you have a specialized service, it will be easier to keep an inventory of the parts you might need. If your inventory is lacking, computer repairs could end up taking a while since you'll have to wait around for parts that you've had to order from other sources.
Hire the right staff - You're going to need employees that are both computer savvy and sociable. An employee that can repair any type of computer isn't going to very valuable if they are rude to your customers, after all. Your business could sink or swim based on your staff.

There are a lot of things to consider when it comes to opening up your own computer repair business. While it's certainly possible, many independent computer repair shops end up failing because their owners are unable to juggle all of these responsibilities effectively. If you want to run a computer repair service, but you don't want the risk involved with building one from the ground up, consider investing in a computer repair franchise instead.

In the last few years, many repair shops have popped up all over the world which specialize in mobile phone and tablet repairs. Regrettably, all of them do not use quality parts or know the correct process of repairing. So you need to be very careful while choosing one for your device repair.
So keeping this in mind, there are certain aspects that you need to consider when selecting a mobile phone repair shop. Herein below find some of such important points:

Warranty-

A very important question that you should inquire about while choosing a repair shop is whether or not the repair center warranties their work. They should also be able to answer specifics on what exactly is covered under the warranty. Select a repair shop that would offer some days of satisfaction guarantee or some other type of warranty on all repairs and parts provided.

Mobile spare parts-

Most of the mobile phone shop would not disclose what kind of parts and spares they are using for the repair, but there are few who would, so dont be afraid to ask about it. In case they dont, you can always ask for the warranty they would provide. How to Evaluate a Wall-Mounted Glass Cutter

How to Evaluate a Wall-Mounted Glass CutterPicture framers, hardware stores, window and screen repair shops, and various other companies use wall mounted glass cutters in their daily work. (These machines are also called "Multi-Media Cutters".)

In addition to cutting glass, they may cut Coroplast, foam board, Foamcore, acrylic, Plexiglass and of course, mat board. There are several machines available. How do you choose the right one? Can you go by price alone?

Here is a list of factors you should consider:

Durability: Can you mount the machine on a wall made of concrete or brick? If so, will it corrode the metal over time? If the mounts are not made of stainless steel, the concrete will erode your mounting steel and your attachment to the wall will be compromised.

Ergonomics: Many of the older glass cutting machines were designed thirty or more years ago. They are difficult to use because they require you to have a strong thumb to apply pressure on the cutter. This can be a problem if you need to cut acrylic or glass in large volumes. Large volumes meaning five or more cuts per day. Look for a machine that allows you to put force to the cutter with your arm and shoulder. Applying force this way is very easy, and you won't become fatigued.

Materials: The use of anodized aluminum is today's way of making a machine that is resistant to wear and corrosion. If the company uses stainless steel, that is a tremendous bonus. Stainless steel will look good over many years of use and won't gall or scratch under normal use.

One especially important factor to look for is whether there are places where aluminum and steel, or even stainless steel must wear against one another. As you might guess, aluminum is much softer than steel and will wear out quickly in this type of design. Make sure that there are oil-impregnated bearings between the aluminum and steel wear points. That is the only way to be assured that the machine will last.

Speed of tool change: Here's an example: If you need to cut a mount board, then, a foam board backing, and finally glass or acrylic, you want to be able to make the change to the cutting tool quickly. Machines use several methods of changing the tools. Some employ the use of a turret. The turret will contain the glass cutter, the razor blade and the acrylic cutter. Although this sounds good, it is slow to use. Because of the size of the turret, special compromises had to be made in the design. It is much better to get a machine that can quickly exchange the complete cutting heads.

Delivery: Most glass cutting machines must be delivered by motor freight. Motor freight is two to three times more expensive than FedEx or UPS. Since you, the buyer will be responsible for paying the shipping, be sure to choose a machine that allows FedEx or UPS shipping.

Smoothness of operation: Look for a machine that employs the use of UHMWP. UHMWP is Ultra High Molecular Weight Polystyrene. It is a great way to make the metal parts move against each other with hardly any friction. It is self-lubricating and resistant to abrasion and corrosion. Observe whether the UHMWP was properly manufactured for the proper fit. You can do this by feeling whether there is looseness or sloppiness in the fit of the tool cart.

Price: Most people feel that a machine that costs more must be better. Although this may be true in many cases, don't be fooled. Examine the machine carefully or watch demonstration videos. Just because a machine has been around for thirty or more years, doesn't mean that it is the best. Computer-aided-design and computer-aided-manufacturing have made it more economical for up to date companies to manufacture a quality product for a much lower price.

Helpful Tips for Channel Partner Management

Helpful Tips for Channel Partner ManagementWith todays competitive market, having the right types of channels or partners would significantly help you become the best manufacturer out there. Global distribution networks and business partnerships from across the globe is becoming the trend for many businesses that manufacture and produce different products. To get ahead of the game, these businesses take advantage of different strategies to maximize earnings and profits. They have built strong partnerships with resellers and dealers to get their products across the globe. Having a good and reliable channel partner would significantly increase sales and be beneficial for both manufacturers and resellers. The key to obtaining success through channel partners is having a good system and a proper management of these systems.

The business world works like a network. Manufacturers need business partners which would be resellers and dealers for their products to reach consumers. Even though manufacturers can sell their products themselves they would still need to rely on others to get their products across different markets and areas. For example, a company manufactures tires in Detroit, Michigan. Now that manufacturer can sell their tires on their factories however their sales would not do well compared to a situation where they utilize other businesses like car repair shops, tire dealers and auto supply chains to sell their products. Utilizing different channel partners would significantly increase sales and will be both beneficial for the manufacturer and reseller. If this tire company would like to go global with their product they could utilize global partners to sell their products.

Channel partner strategies seem easy but it is not. For this type of strategy to work you would need to have a solid channel partner management system. Business partnerships are evolving and always changing you would need to have a good system in place for it to last and prosper. In order for channel partners to work and last, here are some simple channel partner management tips to follow:

1. Knowledge is key. For business partnerships to work and prosper knowledge is very important. Manufacturers must make sure that all their channel partners are well informed and up to date on their products. Partners on the other hand should also take time and be responsible to learn everything there is about the product they sell.

2. Mutual connection. Business partners must have a strong connection with each other for the business to grow and prosper. They have to connect in order to promote the products easily and effectively to consumers

3. Access to information. Manufacturers would need to establish a good partner portal for all important information. Good partner portals should be accessible to the different dealers and resellers and should contain key information like product specifications, customer support guides and other useful information about the manufacturer.

It is very important to have a good working relationship with business partners. Locating and using the best channel partner management system would really help build a strong and lasting business relationship with dealers and resellers. Check the different online resources for the best system that you could use for your growing business.

Gas Powered String Trimmers - It's a Guy Thing

Gas Powered String Trimmers - It's a Guy ThingI know its a guy thing but Ive always believed if you couldnt afford a four-wheeler or a motor cycle, owning a gas powered string trimmer was the next best alternative. Theres just something about gas powered engines that make a lot of noise that guys love.

In addition to the macho reasons, a gas powered string trimmer and edger is a fantastic lawn maintenance tool. They are great for yards with a lot of trees, island flower beds and other obstacles that need to be trimmed or edged around where an appliance connected to a long extension cord would not be suitable. Generally, they are powerful enough to handle thicker grasses and weeds than their electrical counterparts.

If youre just maintaining your own established lawn in the suburbs a model designed for residential use will probably be your best bet. These bad boys deliver plenty of power for trimming grass and weeds and will save you some green in comparison to the cost of a professional or commercial grade trimmer.

However, if you are a lawn maintenance contractor or own a country sized estate with a variety of trimming and edging work requirements, youll need to step up to a more heavy duty, professional model trimmer. These generally have a more powerful engine to accommodate a variety of trimming jobs and longer run times. They are well worth the added cost in longer life and durability.

Gas powered string trimmers are now available with 4 cycle engines as well as the standard 2 cycle engines. The 2 cycle engines require a mixture of gas and 2 cycle engine oil, where as the 4 cycle engines run on gas only.

Whether you live in the suburbs and have a small yard, own a mini-ranch, or make your living maintaining lawns there are many excellent models by name brand manufacturers for you to select from to find the best trimmer to handle your particular needs.

Before deciding on which make and model you want to buy be sure to compare warranties and maintenance schedules. A piece of equipment that doesnt run or requires a lot of maintenance is like a big hole in your pocket. I have a friend who, before he buys anything powered with a small gas engine, visits several repair shops to talk to the people who work on these items every day. He finds out which models break down most often, which are easiest to get parts for and which ones are the easiest to maintain. He believes over the years this has helped him make better buying decisions and saved him a lot of money.

There are many factors to consider when choosing which model is best for you. To learn what they are visit thebeststringtrimmer.com now!

Ethanol Destroying Snowmobile and Other Small Engines

Ethanol Destroying Snowmobile and Other Small EnginesIt's possible that the greatest beneficiaries of the ethanol debacle are the small engine repair shops that have been deluged with snowmobiles, chainsaws, generators, boat motors, tillers and lawn mowers, along with about every other type of power equipment.
Mechanics at these shops say they're full all the time from the damage caused to these pieces of equipment by ethanol.

Not only do they clog up valves and hoses, but even when you take them to the shop to be repaired, you don't get the problem solves, as ethanol leaves a residue even after a part of engine is cleaned, and the problem returns.

The residue left behind by ethanol can't be seen with the naked eye either, and so can't be targeted to clean. But even if it could, so far there's been no way to fix it permanently.

Small engine mechanics are getting leary as many disgruntled customers return with their equipment irate from what they perceive as a poor repair job, when in fact it's a way of life when using ethanol with small machinery.

Another concern is not only the current issue of E10, but lawmakers are pushing to increase the mix even higher, in response to the farming lobby and others that would benefit from it.

What this would do is make the big problem we have now even bigger, and it would definitely be an overreach as consumers would rebel immediately, as almost everybody would be affected by the damage.

Manufacturers are also looking at the potential liability connected to the damage to their products, as many people aren't aware that ethanol is becoming the biggest culprit behind the product breakdowns.

If someone were to get hurt from malfunctioning equipment, or even stranded in their boats on the water far from their entry point, it could become a legal nightmare. Already many people with snowmobiles have them break down in the cold and out on the snow, being stuck in a potentially dangerous situation.

The issue isn't simply switching from corn ethanol to cellulosic based ethanol, the issue is ethanol itself.

There seems to be no other alternative but to stop this terrible focus on ethanol as a viable fuel alternative, and look elsewhere for solutions.

We aren't anywhere near running out of oil, and we have decades before needing to feel the pressure to do something drastic.

Fear, opportunity and political favor has been driving this initiative, and we need to step back, get out of ethanol, and continue searching for and testing other avenues for energy. Ethanol in snowmobiles, ethanol in chainsaws and all other small engines is already a disaster, there's no need to continue with it because money has already been spent, as some politicians have suggested. We need to just write it off as a lesson learned and go on from there.

Eliminating Pesky Auto Squeaks & Rattles from Your Car, Truck Or SUV

Eliminating Pesky Auto Squeaks & Rattles from Your Car, Truck Or SUVRattle, rattle. Rattle. Rattle noises sure are irritating. That sound or series of noises may have come with the car when new - somehow getting by quality control at the factory and the factory quality assurance system or they may have been "acquired" after an accident and subsequent auto body repair job. Regardless the relevant question is - how on earth do you get rid of that endless clack or clatter, jangle or pinging sound or series of odd sounds?

It seems that most rattles can be seen to be caused by a loose bolt or nut, Objects such as bolts and small pieces of body deadener in a door wells, pillars and quarter panels often cause rattles. Door wells can be checked by striking the underside of the door with a rubber mallet. The impact made by the mallet will indicate if loose objects are in the doorwell.

All bolts and screws should be tightened periodically. In the event that tightening the bolts and screws located on such assemblies as the door hood and deck lid, does not eliminate the rattle, then the trouble is most likely caused by misalignment. The position of the doors, hoods and deck lids is adjustable and rubber bumpers are provided to help eliminate the possibility of rattles. Make sure that such bumpers are in position.

Rattles and squeaks are sometimes caused by the weather-stripping and anti squeak material that is "out of position" on the doors. Apply additional cement or other adhesives and take care to install the material or materials in the proper location or locations to eliminate this difficulty.

As a general rule in the auto maintenance trades it can be stated that most squeals and rattles can be eliminated by carefully going over the car, truck or sports utility vehicle once or twice a year and making it a solid practice of tightening all bolts, nuts and sheet metal screws joining the various panels and shrouds "under the hood".

Pay particular attention to the any bolts or fittings attaching the bumper or bumper units.

As well make sure that the door latches and striker plates are tight and also correctly adjusted. Again to note that rattles and squeaks are sometimes caused by weather stripping and anti squeak materials that have somehow slipped out of place. When such conditions do occur, apply additional cement or adhesives and install the material in its proper recommended position to eliminate this difficulty. Lastly if necessary, obtain new weather stripping and sound deadening materials from your local dealer or big box auto supply store or outlet. Install this with the proper or appropriately recommended proper type of cement as recommended by the auto manufacturer themselves for your climate and driving conditions.

In the end when it comes to the nuisance and irritation of rattles the story can be told of a young nephew who enjoyed cracking his "knuckles". His uncle scolded him and told him that you should not do that - its bad for the joints. The smart aleck kid told his senior "Uncle Henry that is a misconception. On the internet it is reported by experts that cracking your knuckles has no noticeable effect on them in the long run and is of little consequence". To which the uncle replied "You would be amazed what they do to adult's nerves". So is it with auto noises and rattles as these vehicles drive down the road, city streets or highway.
